Remarks:"Dreadnought" performing a engine run-up at the 2008 Reno National Championship Air Races. Unfortunately metal would be found coming out of the engine after a later heat and the team pulled out in interest of safety and saving the engine.
Remarks: This is what the Reno National Championship Air Races are all about, close racing with some of the coolest and most interesting planes just above the sagebrush! Formula One Race 50 "Scarlet Screamer" and Race 87 "Madness" coming around inner pylon 5 during heat 2A.
Remarks: Now retired race pilot Mike Brown in Race 911 "September Pops" coming around pylon #4 at the 2008 Reno Air racing Pylon Racing Seminar.
"Pops" has now been sold to Sanders Aeronautics.
Remarks: This is what makes the Reno Air Races stand out compared to most other airshows, nothing compares to seeing and HEARING a race-prepped Mustang warming up to go on a test flight just before the sun rises to bring another amazing day of racing. "Strega" and Bill "Tiger" Destefani would go on to win the Unlimited class this year! Congrats to Tiger and the rest of "Strega" team!
