Remarks: At dusk, N850FD leads a line-up of a Boeing 777F, A310F and MD-11F, one example of each type of wide-body aircraft FedEx Express operates to India.
N850FD has a very interesting story. In keeping with FedEx Express' tradition of naming aircraft after the children of its employees, the aircraft is named Saad, after Saad Zia, the seven-month-old son of New Jersey based staffer Kashif Zia. This very aircraft, is featured by FedEx in its media centre to highlight this aircraft naming tradition. Also, in February 2010 this aircraft was given a special livery and was temporarily called "Panda Express" to commemorate its carriage of two giant Pandas non-stop from Washington DC Dulles airport in the United States, back to Chengdu in China. The plane returned back to its normal livery in September 2010.
Remarks: The 'City of Herat' is pushed back for her return flight to Kabul. The Kabul Delhi route is one of the most profitable to and from India. With their nation still decimated by years of conflict, hundreds of Afghans come to Delhi for medical treatment, trade, and some to escape a hellish life.
Remarks: The first Boeing 747-8i in commercial service. Delhi is the second destination after Washington Dulles for Lufthansa. Unfortunately, by the time this beautiful bird commences its push-back for its Frankfurt flight, the intensity of the night fog and moisture in Delhi builds up giving a hazy cap to terminal 3.
Remarks: In the early hours of a classic overcast Bangalore morning, YMME lines up on runway 27 for her 10 hour flight to London Heathrow. There is a natural incline in the runway with an elevation difference of almost 90 feet between both thresholds.
Remarks: KH-2015 and KH-2014 in a fly past at Aero India 2011. Observe the wingman pilot keeping a close eye on the leader's left wing. All Tejas aircraft carry the initials KH in their serial number, in honour of the person considered the father of the LCA programme Dr. Kota Harinarayana.
Another discreet change is the addition of the hyphen in the serial number.
Remarks: 'Spirit of Kamehameha-Imua' belonging the to the 535th Airlift Squadron (tail HH) enjoying the clear spring sun of Bangalore at Aero India 2011. This was the eighth and final C-17 for the 15th Airlift Wing based at the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii.
