Remarks: The extended departure lounge. Passengers go to their boarding gates then they are bussed to their aircraft. There is no air-bridge at this airport. It gets really quiet around 2PM. Update 25-02-2009 This nice open view is now history. Most of the big windows on the left that over look the taxiway and runway is now boarding gates. Only a few left at the far end as on this picture. The open space seen here is also now boarding enclosures and doesn't have this nice, clean and airy feeling anymore.
Remarks: (Left to right) A7-AEG, A7-AGA, A7-AEH. YK-AGD also sneaks into the frame while taxing out to depart. A7-AGA sits not too far from it's poster across the road. We would depart on A7-AGA to LHR within an hour. Taken from inside A300, A7-ABV while landing on runway 34 from DAC. Unfortunately A7-ABV was destroyed in a hanger fire recently (June 2007).
Remarks: NDIA - The New Doha International Airport. 34R is almost completed, but it looks as if the terminal and 34L are just getting started. The existing airport is on the extreme left of the frame.
Remarks: Construction site of the new Doha International Airport, adjacent to the old airport. This used to be nothing but ocean - now they are creating the land and the outline of runways are taking shape.
Remarks: View from the jumpseat - turning final for runway 34 at DOH. At over 15000 feet (4500+ meters) in lenght, it's one of the longest commercial runways in the world.
