Remarks: Descending inside a 1 mile final for runway 10 at beautiful St. Barts Airport. Just before the runway, you can see the large hill which makes approaches so interesting here! [Photo 1 of 3]
Remarks: Just passing over 'the hill' on final to runway 10 at St. Barts. The quaint city of St. Jean is visible on the right, and Eden Rock is visible in the distance. [Photo 2 of 3]
Remarks: Beachgoers and Sunset Beach Bar patrons (yes, everyone, the SBB is back open, with full service!) alike bask in the glow of the late evening sun as BWIA's evening flight from Kingston, resplendent in the airline's beautiful, tropical color scheme, glides toward runway 09 at Juliana.
Remarks: This was by far the most riveting, hair raising approach I've ever experienced in any type of aircraft. Check out the relative size of the gravel and blades of grass in this shot as we dive toward runway 10, where we would touch down before the '10' markings on the runway! [Photo 3 of 3]
Remarks: Seemingly stopped, suspended in mid-air like some sort of stage prop, Air France's daily flight 488 from Charles de Gualle peers ominously over Maho Beach as it carries out its last seconds of flight. This scene takes place 365 days a year, and never, ever gets old!
Remarks:"Serenity." Nary a soul is present on Maho Beach early on a beautiful February morning as a LIAT Dash 8 cruises into Juliana with the first flight of the day. While most people viewing this picture would go to St. Maarten to see the airplanes, the serene calm of a soft, sandy beach early in the morning can't be beat, either!
Remarks: A full power takeoff (as confirmed with the flight crew before pushback) from Las Vegas' runway 1R, using about 8000ft of the 9700 ft runway. As you can see, we are clearly leaving Virgin our dust, as she hasn't even left the gate yet. :-)
Remarks: A 10mm wide angle shot from the back of of bmi's "the business" cabin, with 24 seats featuring 160° of recline and 60 inch pitch. Preparing to depart Manchester as BD751 to Las Vegas.
Remarks: A wide angle shot showing the 24 seats in bmi's business class cabin, as WWBM prepares to depart Manchester for Vegas as BD751. "The Business" features 160° of recline and a generous 60 inch seat pitch.
Remarks: Seat pair 4J/K in bmi's "the business" cabin; seat 4K would be my home for the next 9 hours aboard BD752 to Manchester. "The Business" features 160° of recline and a generous 60 inch seat pitch.
Remarks: I received a ton of requests after posting my initial photo of this hairy landing asking for more, so here it is! While this shot doesn't show the waters of Maho Bay, it does show just how low this G-V was as it crossed Rhine Road and the airport perimeter, as well as the stunned reaction of everyone on Maho Beach who couldn't believe what they were witnessing!
Remarks: This boat was anchored just off the shoreline of Maho Beach all throughout this Friday. I can only imagine the serene view from out there, watching as plane after plane floats over the beach toward the airport. May have to try that next time!
Remarks: Wide angle vertical shot of this Canadian Airbus arriving on a lonely Saturday morning at Juliana. The crystal blue waters of Maho Bay were more brilliant than I've ever seen!
Remarks: Air Canada's Saturday service from Toronto was slightly lower than normal as it cruised in over Maho Beach on a lovely Saturday afternoon. Below the plane, a father holds his young son to experience the awesome feeling of being just feet below a landing heavy aircraft. Wing span accentuated by a 10mm wide angle shot.
