Remarks: “Willy in the Rainbow is my 100th. shot on JETPHOTOS. This one is dedicated to all of the JP contributors and staff I have met and will meet in Sint. Maarten.
SXM is addictive, and possibly the neatest place in the world to enjoy spotting and aviation photography.
Special thanks to all the WINAIR pilots who check out their photos here and continue to provide opportunities for us all.
Remarks: Moments before touching down on runway 10 here at St barts. Im suprised they dont have to replace the nose gear every few landings here. Very skilled pilots indeed.
Remarks: Another DHC6 gets ready for a short flight, SXM Terminal during the morning is filled with small commuter aircraft, photograph taken from Maho Beach roof [Canon EOS 20D]
Remarks: The action of getting this shot was a hundred times more thrilling than the resultant photo. Imagine, laying on your stomach on a pretty steep hill, facing the runway, camera in hand, hearing total silence behind you... knowing there's an airplane coming. The topography of St. Barths prevents hearing an approaching aircraft until several seconds before it's on top of you. All of the sudden, you hear the plane come over the hill, whining in reverse pitch, so loud you feel like it's going to hit you. As it clears you by a matter of feet, you feel the rush of wind, still unable to see the airplane at all. Finally, it appears in your viewfinder. What a rush!
Remarks: WILLY gets a checkover before heading out to St. Barts. May traffic at the PRINCESS is light but WINAIR continues to thrive with STOL inter-island flights.
