Remarks: [Canon 7D + Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM] Dusk has settled on SXM and US1563, as we make the turn back towards Charlotte, NC and the US mainland. One can tell how small the island of St. Maarten is, as its 87 sq km (33.6 sq mi) area easily fits into the frame. The airport runway is located in the thin strip of land just left of the wingtip, and Maho Beach lies on the left end of the runway. Thanks to Timo Breidenstein and Marseno Bremer for the great company during this trip.
Remarks: A very nice view over West point while descending for arrival in Curacao. Also visible on this photo is the highest mountain on the island, the Christoffelberg.
Remarks: Just airborne from TNCM with Simpson Bay, the Royal Palm Beach Resort and Pelican Key visible as we climb away before initiating a right turn back over the bay. [1600 pixels]
Remarks: Just before we reached the clouds, while banking away from Princes Juliana Airport (visible in the upper right corner), bound for Curacao, on board KL0785; we have a magnificent view towards Simpson Bay with Pelican Key on the left. It looks like paradise!
Remarks: This is Caribbean Airlines Flight BW600 at flight level 380 just north of St. Maarten. This shot was taken as the aircraft bank right in a north east direction. It was awesome sight to witness the golden sunlight reflect off the wing and the massive cloud cover below. This picture is dedicated to my son Michael who was onboard this flight.
