Remarks: After Aloha Airlines ceased operations this beauty luckily found a new home on the other side of the world in SA. Seen waiting for its night flight back to Cape Town (CPT) where it is based. Unknown operator.
Remarks: Beautiful evening light shining on this mini-bus as it makes its way to the terminal after arriving from Johannesburg (JNB). Note the old rugby stadium and Indian Ocean in the background.
Remarks: This 32 year old beauty is the first DC-9 for the latest South African LCC Velvet Sky. She is seen performing the second ever Durban (DUR) to Cape Town (CPT) via PLZ flight (the first was operated by a B733 two days earlier).
Remarks: This extremely rare 42 year old visitor made slowing down on PE's rather short 1,980 metre runway look easy. It was bringing in ammo from somewhere via Accra (ACC).
Remarks: About to perform a 'go-around' over PE's runway zero-eight in this brand new Swiss built flight simulator which can also be configured into a twin-engine Beechcraft Baron 58.
Remarks: SA's first privately-owned P-51 named 'Mustang Sally' (ex USAF) is seen departing for a practice session the day before the 2010 Port Elizabeth Airshow. Taken at 400mm.
Remarks: Captain Willem taxies past in this Durban King Shaka (DUR/FALE) bound Regional Jet. We see up to 16 of these -200ER's at the airport everyday, 8 from Cape Town, 6 from Durban and 2 from Johannesburg.
Remarks: First pic in the database of 1Time's latest Mad Dog which is seen just after departing runway 08 'Flying the Fans' to Cape Town (CPT/FACT) as flight T6 701. In September 2009 this aircraft was to be scrapped in Orlando when fortunately 1Time bought it from owners Aero Republica Colombia !
Remarks: Unusual 10mm wide-angle view made possible due the lack of a door (which was removed before the flight) so I could do some aerial Photography. Sir John Travola has landed his Qantas Boeing 707 on this short 6,500 feet (2,000 metre) runway 08/26 twice :D !
