(This Balloon – the latest in a series of RAAF Balloon Registrations - was Built in 2011, and First registered in Australia on 13May2011.) Remarks: On 12Mar1994, Canberra celebrated its 81st Birthday with a week-long Balloon Fiesta. The Make a Wish Foundation came to the Party with Lindstrand Birthday Balloon LBL Cake G-WISH. Sadly, G-WISH didn’t come back for an Encore at Canberra’s 100th Birthday on 12Mar2013. However, Kavanagh Balloons D-84 VH-LFS Cn D84-444 had a ‘livery’ which marked the occasion at the Balloon Spectacular during the Canberra Day Public Holiday Celebrations on 11Mar2013. Remarks: RAN Squirrel AS-350B helicopter N22-016 Code 863 Cn 1740, from 723 Sqn Nowra, was on static display in sunny conditions on the Treasury lawns, Canberra, on 17Mar1997. Remarks: Bell 47G-3B-1 helicopter VH-KHM Cn 6629 taken at Canberra’s Lake Burley Griffin in Mar 1991. (Russell Offices and the Carillon are visible at rear.) The helo was in town for during Canberra Week activities. VH-KHM (which was previously C-FWBK) was exported from Canada to Australia on 31Jan1986. While landing at Jugiong New South Wales on 22Sep2003, the main rotor blades of VH-KHM collided with a stationary Robinson R22. Both aircraft were destroyed. Low res photo.
Remarks: RAAF 37 Squadron C-130H A97-005 Cn 382-4785 did a Farewell flypast over Canberra on Friday 23Nov2012, before Retirement. The aircraft flew over Mt Ainslie, Anzac Parade, doing a half-orbit around New Parliament House, and back over the Australian War Memorial. The aircraft’s Special Livery was a Tail Logo, showing a Hercules flying into a Sunset, after 34 years Service. Aircraft shown passing Capital Hill, heading North. Note the person’s face visible in the rear (para) door, and the photographer on the flight deck.

Remarks: In Canberra, the 2012 Anzac Day Parade was held at the Australian War Memorial. After the playing of the 'Last Post', three RAAF F/A-18 Hornets from 2OCU (81 Wing) Williamtown NSW performed this Formation Flypast – aircraft shown climbing in front of New Parliament House. (The jet efflux is melting the building/flagpole.) The lead aircraft was F/A-18A A21-3 (Callsign Hunter 11), with F/A-18B Wingmen A21-110 at left, and A21-114 at right.
