Remarks: Arriving over beautiful Maho Beach after a flight from New York's Kennedy Airport. Photo taken from the roof of the Maho Beach Hotel & Casino.
Remarks: KLM 785 is seen touching down well before the threshold of runway 09, sending the brave fence huggers to their knees on a wet day in paradise.
Remarks: Photo 2 of 2: One of the lowest approaches i've witnessed on my 2 trips to SXM. About to touch down on runway 09....but before the piano keys!!!! Check the people on the beach as they try and protect themselves from the wake of the landing. Pretty scary stuff.
Remarks: It's not a 747... but this was the lowest arrival I have ever seen in St. Maarten! 636MF is no more than 10 feet above the beach at this point, and would just barely clear the fence on its way to a 'quick' landing on runway 09. This one got a few screams out of beachgoers and barflies at the Sunset Beach Bar!
Remarks: Beautiful overview of Juliana Airport from Caribbean Sun flight 724 bound for San Juan. After several days of clouds and periodic rain, the waters of the Caribbean Sea were as brilliant as I've ever seen!
Remarks: I received a ton of requests after posting my initial photo of this hairy landing asking for more, so here it is! While this shot doesn't show the waters of Maho Bay, it does show just how low this G-V was as it crossed Rhine Road and the airport perimeter, as well as the stunned reaction of everyone on Maho Beach who couldn't believe what they were witnessing!
Remarks: You can see the pilot still in his seat on the left side, he had major injuries but survived. This crash was the end off the airshow. Not such a good day with bad weather and a crash... Nr. 5 of 5
Remarks: Photo 1 of 2: One of the lowest approaches i've witnessed on my 2 trips to SXM. Bearly missing the fence as the people underneath duck for cover.
Remarks: My 2500th photo on JetPhotos.net. A 747 landing at SXM always draws a large crowd, especially at the point where the 747 is literally meters above your head. Hold your breath as the jumbo goes over your head.
