Remarks: The National Airlines scheme is easily one of the best in the industry today and the 747s look amazing in it. Sadly on 04/29/2013 this aircraft crashed on takeoff from Bagram, Afghanistan with the loss of everyone onboard. Originally delivered to Air France as a -428 F-GISE in ‘93. It started flying with National in 2010 operated by Air Atlanta as TF-NAD and was then re-registered as N949CA in 2011. They operated a series of charters to Hong Kong in the past.
Remarks: B-HUR departing heavy in nice early morning light. It was eventually transferred to Air Hong Kong where it now operates. Cathay no longer fly any BCFs leaving the -400F, -400ERF and the 800F as the remaining types for cargo.
Remarks: Delta 744 leaving for Tokyo Narita on an absolutely beautiful morning. The -400 was briefly seen on the morning service to Tokyo in mid-to-late 2010.
Remarks: Yet another airline that’s phased out the expensive gas-guzzling classics. Their -200 & -300 freighters were a very familiar sight at CLK over the years.
Remarks: OX203 leaving for Bangkok. It’s not common for it to be this clear & blue outside of summer in HKG but it does happen from time to time in autumn & early winter.
HS-UTW is one of many ex-JAL aircraft OX acquired over the years to expand their fleet.
This hobby just won't be the same when all the 747 classics are gone in a few years...
