Remarks: "Beach Ball" flown by Peter Kline taxiing out for a Qualifying lap. Peter would fly "Beach Ball" to a best lap time of 1:14.358 with a speed of 410.569mph. Above the tail John Penney is diving down for his lap in "Pip Squeak".
Remarks: Sherman Smoot in "Czech Mate" taxiing out for some practice laps at the 2007 Reno National Championship Air Races. Sherman would fly the Yak well and end up placing second in Sunday's Unlimited Breitling Gold.
Remarks: Lee Behel taxiing out in "American Spirit" for some practice time on the course at the 2007 Reno National Championship Air Races. Although flown by Rick Vandam at the time, "American Spirit" would end up sixth in the Jet Gold at an average speed of 440.878mph. In the background John Penney pilot of Unlimited legend "Rare Bear", has just climbed off of runway 08 for his practice on the course in "Pip Squeak".
Remarks: Looking back through old photos often turns up something that has previously been missed. Glad i checked as i wont be photographing another one of these again.
Remarks: My favourite jet arriving on what would be one of the last DC-10's to visit Manchester on a regular basis. Sad to see the DC-10s for such a short period but i will always have photos like this one to remind me of a great aircraft. Happy 40th birthday DC-10.
