Remarks: Port side view of Hawker Fury FB.11 F-AZXL Code 369, taxying back after a handling display on 24Jun11. The Fury, owned by Air France B777 Captain Frederic Akary, is based at Avignon. Photo taken at the 49th Salon International - Paris Air Show at Le Bourget. What a pleasure to see this aircraft in France, wearing 'Oxford Blue' Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Sea Fury livery. The bare metal at the front of the engine cowling is unusual, and the aircraft does not have an arrestor hook or folding wings normally fitted to Navy versions. The Fury represents the peak of post-War piston-engined fighter aircraft development. F-AZXL has had its original Bristol Centaurus engine (and large five blade propeller) replaced by a Wright R3350-26WD engine (with a four blade propeller). [Interestingly, Guido Zuccoli's ex-Iraqi Fury FB.11 VH-HFG (K-308) had a four blade propeller at Point Cook (YMPC) Victoria in May 1988, but appeared at Avalon in October 1992 fitted with a five blade propeller.]
