Remarks: I am quite sure that there are very few pictures of B-165 (intact) around. This B747-409 was delivered to China Airlines in June 1993, and five months later was the aircraft that ran off Runway 13 at Kai Tak. I was lucky enough to catch her one sunny day at the airport when she would fall from grace (Fuji Velvia slide)
Remarks: Looking sad and pathetic, B-165 sits in the corner of HAECO awaiting her final fate. She was the aircraft that ran off the runway at Kai Tak on 4th November 1993. You can still clearly see the China Airlines titles, even though they have been painted out (Fuji Velvia Slide)
Remarks: It's not often you see a 747 being lifted by crane pass your office window! A fortnight after the accident, a floating crane lifts B-165 from the sea and transports the aircraft to the northern part of the airport, where it was transported on land.
Remarks: Seen about one hour after the accident, B-165 languishes forlornly in Kowloon Bay with emergency slides deployed and Emergency Services in attendance, having run off the end of Runway 13 during Tropical Storm "Ira".
