Remarks: Rare Wing View of Kai Tak Airport (VHHH), taken from a Cathay Pacific TriStar during take-off roll on Rwy 13 in 1981. This photo was taken at the start of a 2.1 hour flight to Bangkok. Aircraft on the apron include KLM and Air France Boeing 747s, two Cathay Pacific TriStars. (There are also a CP Boeing 707 at right, a Thai Airways A300, and a Golden Falcon TriStar at rear). A thick haze affected the view of the mountains in the background.
Remarks: Rare 1981 cabin photo (looking rearward) in Cathay Pacific TriStar VR-HHV, before departure from Hong Kong (Kai Tak) to Bangkok. My first flight with Cathay Pacific, and first flight in a TriStar was in VR-HHY on 06Oct1981 (Manila to Hong Kong). The next flight (HKG-TPE) was in Cathay TriStar N316EA, which had Cathay livery, with Eastern Airlines Registration! Low res photo. Apologies for low depth of field.
Remarks: Rare (low res) wing view photo of Chiang Kai Shek (CKS) Airport in October 1981. Photo taken from Cathay Pacific TriStar VR-HHV, departing CKS on a 2.0 hour trip to Osaka Japan. (A vapour trail is streaming from the wingtip at top-left, and a DC-10 and Boeing 747SP are at the terminal.) My holiday visit co-incided with the 70th Anniversary of the founding of Formosa/ Taiwan in 1911. (The 70th Birthday is the most significant in Chinese culture.) Apologies for the quality of this 27 year old photo. High humidity caused window fogging.
Remarks: [KR64] One of the biggest surprises in Spanish aviation in 1997: Iberia operating Tristars! And just linking three airports (MAD/TFN/LPA) Immediately I ran (and swam) to get it!
