Remarks: Ex Horizon Air. Icaro bought this aircraft in order to use it as a spare parts provider for the rest of the fleet. Note de US flag on the tail. Take a look to the pictures of its last commercial flight:
Remarks: A Horizon F-28 rolls on runway 28R enroute to Seattle. Sadly, this was the last photo I took of a Horizon F-28 before they were retired
Remarks: Another water cannon salute from the PDX fire department, and the F28 and Captain Jim are done. Truly a memorable experience!
Remarks: Passing the QX ramp in Portland at a high rate of knots. This was quite a thrill!
Remarks: Setting up for a low fast pass down runway 10R at Portland - note the shadow of the jet
Remarks: Pleasing view of the mountains, the moon and bits of N492US
Remarks: Getting airborne from SEA, with the Horizon ramp just disappearing under the wing
Remarks: The old and the new... A Horizon CRJ departs as the F28 boards pax for its last flight
Remarks: Parked on spot 8 at SeaTac, ready for the last leg and receiving even more grafitti!
Remarks: Fire-cannon salute from the Port of Seattle as we taxi in. That was the first time I ever saw one of these from the inside!
Remarks: QX2901 en-route to Seattle from Spokane
Remarks: N492US's starboard engine. The flight was commanded by Captain Jim Roberts, a 21-year veteran and QX's most senior pilot, who was retiring the following day
Remarks: Close-up of N492US's nose. The flight routed PDX-BOI-GEG-SEA-PDX, and after each stop there was less of the original paint visible!
Remarks: Horizon Air's last F28 flight, the round-robin employee flight QX2901, occurred on Valentine's Day 2003. Here is N492US, suitably grafitti'd, on the ramp at GEG
Remarks: Parked - waiting for its next flight. Was glad to get one of QX's F28's on Chrome!
