Remarks: A waning three-quarter moon provided a backdrop for aircraft flying at the 2013 Avalon International Airshow on Sunday morning 03Mar2013. Trans Australia Airlines (TAA's) first DC-3, VH-AES Cn 6021 (flown by Hawdon Operations), crosses the moon while turning to Stbd during a graceful handling display at 1053 hrs.
Remarks: Head-on view of Trans Australia Airlines first DC-3, VH-AES, producing propeller tip vortices while starting a take-off from Temora's Rwy 36 in March 2011. The Classic Airliner was participating in the RAAF 90th Anniversary Air Pilgrimage. Sixty vintage aircraft departed Temora on 29Mar2011, travelling via Tocumwal and Ballarat, and finishing at Point Cook (Birthplace of the RAAF) on 31Mar2011 (the actual 90th RAAF Birthday).

Became VH-AES with Dept of Civil Aviation Aug 44 on loan to Aust National Airways. To Trans Australian Airlines as 'Hawdon' on 3 Jul 46 & flew TAA's 1st service 9 Sept. Became VH-SBA Dec 60 & VH-AES again briefly in Aug-Sep 71 for 25th anniv. of TAA. Last service Sep 71. Preserved, suspended, at Melbourne Airport. Restored to flying 1988.
