Remarks: Wing Commander H.S. Mangat, was intercepted by PAF MiG-19s whilst on a photo-recce mission and his Su-7 hit by a Sidewinder missile. The explosion carried away half the rudder, the elevators, ailerons and flaps and were all heavily damaged. Wg. Cdr. Mangat disengaged successfully and then returned to his base despite the extensive damage to his aircraft, a tribute to his flying skill and to the toughness of the Su-7.The tail is in a well preserved condition in the museum.Credits to Brian for editing the shot.
Remarks: 'Whale-of-Fighter' - The SU-7's of the Indian Airforce saw action during the 1971 war mainly as a ground interdictor.140 were delivered in 1968, equipping six squadrons. An additional 14 attrition replacements were provided. The last units were retired in 1986.
Remarks: 23 April, 1979 at a taking-off, in the moment of tearing away from RUNWAY, an airplane began to be vigorously tipped to the left. On a delete 1460 meters from the beginning of stripe an airplane ran into earth, exploded and burned out. A pilot perished.
