Remarks: This rare oldtimer was built in 1947. Only 65 of the -2A version were built for the civilian market, and the production came to an end in 1948.
Remarks: Designed as a spotter plane for the British Army, Miles built seventy-one Messengers, and all post-war examples, including this one from 1946, were built in its Northern Ireland factory at Newtownards. This one is owned by Peter Bishop, coincidentally from Woodley near Reading, site of the main Miles factory. It has recently been completely restored following an accident. The three-seat Messenger is powered by a 138hp Blackburn Cirrus. (Remember this one, Tim?)(400D, Sigma 80-400 & fluid-head tripod)
