Remarks: A newly delivered Mi-17 V5 chopper, as you can make out from the fresh paint. The Mi-17 V5 is a replacement for the Mi-8 which is being progressively being phased out.
Remarks: The new version of Mi-17 for 157HU of IAF. This chopper was assembled and tested at my home town , good to click it again and that too closely.
Remarks: The modernized and weaponized version of the Mi-17 : The lethal Mi-17V5.The upgrades include a weather radar, a state of the art autopilot, a winch and all weather capability in any kind of terrain.The nose of the helicopter is peculiar and resembles a Dolphin.
Remarks: MI-17 : Twin engine turboshaft, medium transport helicopter of Russian origin with a capacity of 24 troops or 3.3 tonnes of freight. It carries 6 UV-17, 57 mm rocket pods and has max cruise speed of 240 km/hr. The Mil Mi-17 are operated by the IAF for medium utility roles. The Mi-8 is being progressively replaced by the Mi-17. The IAF has ordered 80 Mi-17V-5s to replace and augment its existing fleet of Mi-8s and Mi-17s, with an order for 59 additional helicopters to follow soon. (Extract from various online sources)
