This Korean War vintage aircraft (Del Oct 1950, and powered by a Rolls Royce Griffon engine) wears Invasion Stripes. The aircraft won a number of awards at EAA Air Venture 2003, including Best Restoration. From 1966 to 1991 she sat on a pole in Griffith NSW (wearing Code K903)!

This Korean War vintage aircraft (Del 12/50, and powered by a Rolls Royce Griffon engine) wears 'Invasion Stripes, as applied in the 1950s. Also, the name on the Nose-Art near the cockpit is 'Mickey's Mouse'. Col Pay's 'bare metal' T-6G Texan VH-HAJ and the Canberra Control Tower are visible at right. I last saw a Firefly flight demo at Oshkosh in August 2003, by ex-RAN Firefly WB518. Apologies for low quality.

Remarks: Rare low res close-cropped view of RAN Fairey Firefly AS6 WD827 on outdoor display at the Moorabbin Aviation Museum (MAM) in early 1974. This Firefly was delivered to the RAN in Glasgow Scotland on 16Oct1950, and embarked on HMAS SYDNEY. The aircraft was presented to the of the Australian Air League in Blacktown NSW in Nov 1956. She was acquired by the MAM in 1972, and is now displayed indoors. Apologies for quality of this 36 year old photo.
