This plane was built in 1942 and removed from service in 1945. The Army Air Force sold it for $1 to a trade school in Billings Montana where it sat for 20 years. In the mid 1960s it was sold to the CAF as a restoration project, but wasn't flown or restored until 2001. In 2004 it was heavily damaged in a crash that killed the pilot. It was restored again and flying by 2010 painted in the Tuskegee Airmen colors. Then in 2015 it suffered another accident and was restored a 3rd time in 2016.
