Notes:

Rare Low Res colour image of the only Me 163 Komet in Australia, in Original livery, on 10Dec1974. Close-cropped front Stbd side view of Luftwaffe Messerschmitt Me 163B1-a Komet WerkeNummer 191907 taken at RAAF Museum Point Cook YMPC Victoria. (Messerschmitt Me 262A-2a, WNr 500200, is at rear.) This Me 163 was Built late 1944 and had not been assigned to a Luftwaffe unit when captured at Husum, Nothern Germany on 08May1945, and shipped to RAE Farnborough UK. After a move to RAF Brize Norton on 08Aug1945, the aircraft was crated at RAF Wroughton on 30Apr1946, and shipped to RAAF Laverton Victoria with Bf 109G-6 WNr 163284. The Komet was loaned to RAAF Museum 1970-78 (where, unfortunately, it was re-painted). After a ‘Corrective Repaint’ by CAC, it went to the Australian War Memorial (AWM) Store at Mitchell ACT in 1986, and has been displayed in the AWM Anzac Hall since 2001. Apologies for quality and grainy AGFA CT21 slide film.
