This is the plane with a really nice piece of history. It’s one of the few 707-400s with Rolls-Royce Conway 508 engines. Originally built for ElAl (reg. 4X-ATB) used also by Arkia. On September 6, 1970 en route from AMS to JFK survived a hijacking attempt by Al-Fatah terrorist Leila Khaled and her accomplice. The same hijacking action where the Al-Fatah hijacked a PanAm 747, Swissair DC-8 and TWA 707. In 80's the plane has been repainted and donated for museum in Berlin. It has never flown for Lufthansa. Its last flight was on November 22, 1986 to TXL. Now this plane is used for fire fighting and evacuation training.
