Scanned from a slide so perhaps not as sharp as I would have liked. An "up close and personal" view of one of the most impressive miltary aircraft of it's era. Carrying out pre-flight checks before it's mission, this 522FS/27FW F-111D was a long way from it's home of Cannon AFB, New Mexico. It was to be the last deployment for these aircraft as they were destined for AMARC on their return to the USA to be replaced by Lakenheath F-111F's. Gone but certainly not forgotten.
