HM Queen Elizabeth II arrived in Canberra on Wed 19Oct2011, to start an eleven day Royal Visit to Australia. The Queen and Prince Phillip arrived aboard British Airways B777-236 G-YMMP (Flight BA9101C) at 1737 hrs, transiting from Singapore. The Flight was met by the Prime Minister and Governor- General, complete with Federation Guard and a 21 Gun Salute. However, the Arrival Ceremony was scheduled for 1800 hrs, and the B777 crew was asked to delay their arrival, so they taxied in very slowly! (Note the Royal Standard flying from a cockpit window.) Local airline traffic was delayed when told to hold, while the Queen's aircraft waited at the end of Rwy 35, and then crept back to the Official Arrival Ceremony.
