First-Built Eurocopter X3 Compound Helicopter F-ZXXX (Code H31) climbing over Le Bourget Airport (LFPB / LBG) on Friday 24Jun2011. The flight demo was impressive. Photo taken at the 49th Salon International - Paris Air Show at Le Bourget. This is Eurocopter X3 Construction Number 1, being demonstrated on the first Public Day of the 2011 Airshow. The hybrid looks like a Dauphin helo with stub wings and two conventional forward facing propellers. The back end has a tailplane and twin fins/rudders, but no tail rotor. (I believe that directional control while hovering is achieved by differential thrust from the propellers.) New Type for JetPhotos.net database.
