The last spell of night photography at this wonderful airport on this beautiful little island for myself and fellow photographers Tom Gautier and Adam Spalding before heading back to a cold and wet English winter the following day. Madeira was very kind to us on our final night and conditions for photography were absolutely perfect. The air was clean and crisp, and by chance thanks to these conditions custom white balancing for the artificial airfield lighting gave an image full of colour and depth. This 6 second exposure shows a spectral line of passengers boarding their A319 back to the mainland while Thomson's G-CDFH taxies behind after arrival. As I look at the ghostly passengers preparing to leave I'm excited by the fact I'll be back on that terrace in little under 2 months. This is a very happy photo for me, full of great memories from a place I love deeply and I genuinely can't wait to get back there. This image is for Tom Gautier, Jimmy Leaman and Aidan Ingham. Here's to an awesome week guys, and Jimmy, you ARE going in the pool!

Cant wait to be here in 47 days, about 0.5 miles from the Pool in which your going to be pushed into! Sinking some beers on the terrace and shooting planes! What more can I ask for?? On a side not, Lovely shot mate!
