Just another view over this mesmerizing architectural and engineering creation: 2004 winner of the Outstanding Structure Award, by the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE). What a bless was the first day of the year in Madeira Island with this sunshine! Here you can see an Air Berlin's A333, D-AERS, blasting off runway 05. Below we can see how this space, under runway 23, was reused and is now a sports center. Besides this, take a look at the rescue harbor. On top left, this was the end of the old runway 24 (in use before runway 23).
