Notes:

This is the Military half of KFHU as seen from the GA ramp. As is evident in the photo, the mountians provide a very scenic backdrop to photographs of departing aircraft. However, it is difficult to get a clear shot given the distance of the runway from the GA side, the hot daily temperatures, and the haze rising off of the pavement. That being said, it is quite a sight to see a Cessna arrive inbetween 2 UAVs! The hangers below the tower house specially equipped Kingairs used by the Army, likely for Border Servaliance. Just visible in the right of the picture is the large pink hanger, which houses Customs & Border Partol UAVs. ANG A10s and F16s also frequent the airport. As do various army helicopters and a large blimp used to watch the border. FHU is joint Military and Civilian, so there shouldn't be a problem with spotting from the GA side. The folks in the FBO are very friendly, and there are pleanty of places to sit back and watch the action. I recommend a visit if you're in the area.
