My first flight as a new "stewardess" in 1966, on Christmas Eve was on the Viscount. I loved the huge oval windows in that aircraft. I have a lot of fond memories of working the Viscount. I love this picture. My first flight was in the snow and I'll never forget seeing that trubo-prop all covered white with snow that day.
United Airlines acquired 60 Viscounts when they 'merged' with Capitol (circa mid 60's). Pilots who flew them out of GRR said they loved 'em. United reportedly wanted to get more Viscounts for customer needs until their full B-737 fleet exisisted. A Capitol Airlines Viscount was my first jet aircraft ride, Lansing to Grand Rapids, 15 min!
