Hmmmmmm - well, I was only 15 years old, when I stopped over at Mombasa and took the picture, so I don't quite remember everything about the USAF VC-137 visiting there. I think however, it still had the old turbojet engines installed and as far as I know, by 1985 Air Force One was already flying on JT-3D turbofans. However - as I said - I was still young then and might not remember correctly...

I may be wrong, but I am willing to bet that the aircraft on the ground was AIRFORCE ONE! It was also a boeing 707 in civilian designation or VC-137C in USAF military designation. There were two BOEING 707 Airforce one's up to the 1990's. One of them was the popular SAM 26000 that carried the body of JF Kennedy from Dallas to DC and in which Vice President LB Johnson was sworn in as President in Nov 23 1964. I wonder what Peter makes of this assesment.?
