Overlooking Samlesbury Aerodrome (EGNG). This is the home of BAe Systems (formerly British Aerospace). The English-Electric Lighting and Canberra were manufactured at this site many years ago. BAe Systems now build the fuselage for the Eurofighter, amongst other things at this site. The airfield is largely disused, apart from Bowland Forest Glider Club on an infrequent basis and light RAF training aircraft. There are two such aircraft on the taxiway and runway; one is ZH206 (a Shorts Tucano T1-MK51 of the RAF Air Cadets). The runway has been used for testing Le Mans racing cars in the past. This photo was taken from Mellor Moor observation point, approximately 2.5 Km to the east of the aerodrome which looks out over the Lancashire plain and Ribble Valley at a height of 223m above sea level. (Canon 350D + 75-300 IS USM)
