Richard Allen - The Hong Kong Spotters

Yes, it wouldn't be wise to dump the 744 just yet as they're desperately needed on the LAX/LHR runs with overbookings year-round. Maybe an ideal 744 replacement for NZ would be to have the A380 replace the 744 on this route and the 773ER take over NRT and the future SFO run? Maybe later down the road we can see a 772ER order for bigger Asian routes such as HKG and SIN and possible ICN in future? I also look forward to seeing their new Business class and Economy class product they will announce soon, let's hope the Y seats keep their 33-34 inches between seats.

If you're an Australian Aviation reader then you would have probably picked up this in the Jan/Feb 2004 edition Air NZ eventually seeking 747/767 replacements with 777-300s, A330-200 & A340-600 but they'll keep the B744 for the time being but the B767s will leave the fleet very soon
