Notes:

[1800px] Preserved at Italian Air Force museum of Vigna di Valle. In the wake of the moderate sales success achieved with the P.136 amphibian, using the latter's characteristic gull wings and engines, Piaggio presented in 1957 the P.166, a light twin-engine to be offered to civilian operators. The first version produced in series had a good diffusion in the United States and Australia as well as in Italy where it was used by Agip and FINSIDER. The military version, the P.166 M, requested by the Italian Air Force and produced in over 50 units, was used as a training aircraft by the Multimotor Training School / Propeller Advanced Basic Flight School of Latina, in the connecting departments of the three Air Regions and for aerial photography. The P.166 proved to be a good machine, robust, reliable and with a long operating life. A radical development of the airframe took place in 1978 with the production of the P.166-DL3, equipped with a pair of 587 HP Avco Lycoming turboprop engines.
